Have you ever thrown a boomerang and watched it come back...sampled bush food...used a woomera to launch a spear...or spoken with an indigenous Australian about their rich culture? At Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, you can do all that and more within a magnificent award-winning park situated at the foot of the Barron Gorge National Park - the traditional home of the Tjapukai people. Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is dedicated to preserving and presenting authentic Aboriginal culture with the aid of the most modern technology. Our park features three theatres, a museum, an art gallery and a traditional Aboriginal camp that gives visitors a complete and meaningful glimpse of a rich and ancient culture.
Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final. Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center. Special Schedule Notes Due to the damage sustained by Cyclone Yasi, the Spear and Boomerang Throwing Show will not be available. This will be replaced by the Hunting Tools and Weapons talk, which will include a full demonstration of how the spear and boomerang throwing are done. Family Rate Ordering the Family Rate gets you two adult tickets and two tickets for children ages 5-14. The rate represents a significant savings! If your party includes more adults or more children than the 2 adults and 2 children included in the Family Rate, you must order the additional adults and/or children at their regular rates. Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park presents a unique blend of contemporary modern Australian music, the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo being played live and the most stunning images of our distinctive region. Cultural Presenation
For the first time ever learn from a Tjapukai warrior how traditional tools and weapons were used 40,000 years ago by the Aboriginal people. This presentation will then lead straight into the existing bush food presentation and then boomerang and spear throwing. The Magic Space
A museum art space with authentic stone age artefacts once used by Tjapukai people and returned from the Queensland State Museum. See large murals by Tjapukai’s foremost artists retelling the stories of the Dreamtime. A History Theatre presentation will be played in the Magic Space for you to watch at your own leisure. The documentary is a 20 minute historical presentation of the past 120 years and modern man’s impact on a 40,000 year old culture. Creation Theatre
A performance theatre where live performers interact with giant holograms. The Creation Theatre tells the dreamtime story of the Tjapukai people. Dance Theatre
An outdoor theatre set in a natural forest amphitheatre, featuring a live performance celebrating traditional Tjapukai corroborees and song. Bush Foods and Medicine Show
Learn how the Tjapukai people treated many toxic foods to prepare them for consumption, and how the land provided medicinal remedies for everything from ailments to accidents. You will have the opportunity to touch, taste and feel bush tucker from the local area. Spear and Boomerang Throwing
Have you ever used a Woomera (traditional spear throwing instrument) to throw a spear? Learn how to master the technique of the returning boomerang. Complimentary Face Painting Have your face traditionally painted in the Magic Space with natural colours of the rainforest. Tour does not include hotel pickups or drop offs, though shuttle service may be available at lodging from Cairns through to the northern beaches and Port Douglass. Details will be on your E-Ticket.
